Assessments are a key part of the therapy process. They allow the therapist to identify areas of need, recommend the most effective treatment approach and establish a baseline with which to monitor progress. For these reasons an initial assessment is necessary at the commencement of any therapy program. To book an assessment, click here.
In the clinic, initial assessments are typically 90 minutes and a standard appointment 60 minutes. Outside of the clinic, session duration can be adjusted to meet the needs of the child and the setting. Therapy sessions will include a tailored home exercise program and a summary letter will be provided at the completion of all therapy blocks.
At Wunderkind Therapy Services we believe parents are the ‘experts’ in knowing their own child. We strive to develop a partnership between the therapist and the family to achieve the best outcome. Support and communication are at the core of our service delivery and family members are encouraged to play an active role in their child’s home and clinic based therapy program.
Children are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and trainers and bring a water bottle and glasses if worn. Please bring to your initial appointment any referral letters, assessment results, reports and samples of class work.
Wunderkind Therapy Services operates out of a home-based clinic, centrally located in St Ives. Therapy can also be provided in the child’s School or Preschool on Sydney’s North Shore by arrangement with the Principal/Director. For those living beyond the North Shore or unable to travel to the clinic, therapy can be delivered remotely via telehealth (skype, facetime). To view our location map, or to get in touch, click here.
